The main objective of ABDEM is to help improve the personal autonomy and life quality of people who suffers from multiple sclerosis. At the same time, the institution is working to raise awareness in the community about the physical, psychological and social consequences of the disease. ABDEM works in the following fields: Psychological and social support for people who suffer from multiple sclerosis and for their relatives and carers; Rehabilitation; Neuro-Rehabilitation; Training; Research; Social awareness and Dissemination. The Association has broad experience in working with people with disabilities, especially with those still in employment. Through this work, ABDEM has identified the need for the development of a training programme that will facilitate the integration of people with disabilities in the labour market.

The Aarhus Social and Health Care College is a state‐funded, self‐governing institution. Its purpose is to offer short‐cycle vocational social and Health Care education and training and associated continuing training. The college also offers a basic programme concerning these subjects for young people, including a specific basic programme for immigrants and refugees. The college has its own web production unit, and it has developed a great expertise among web designers and teachers in the production of goal‐directed teaching and knowledge mediating web sites. Furthermore the teachers at the college use web based teaching programmes to a large extent in the daily teaching of our students.

MISTiA is the centre of the Foundation in Support for Local Democracy (the FSLD), one of the largest NGOs in the Malopolska Region. Since our foundation in January 1991, we have been working in support for developing the main civic state sector and promoting the idea of partner collaboration at the regional and local level. We implement the objective by creating the opportunities for improving management methods in the public administration, NGOs as well as in the SME and supporting those willing to start their own businesses. The activities of MISTiA are not only oriented towards transferring know-how and improvement of skills, but also towards exchange of experience and promotion of management success stories. Because of the scale, variety and profile of our activities, our Krakow seat has become an non-political centre of concentrated activities in support for local government development well-known and recognized in Poland; a venue of meetings and work activities of the representatives of local government from the Region of Malopolska. The mission of MISTiA is to support individuals, organisations and groups participating in building and promoting civil society and state. The Institute is active in the following fields: training, project implementation and management, consulting and advisory services, research activity within the framework of the Centre for Strategic Analyses and the operation of forums representing various professional groups.

The Foundation for European Initiatives (TFEI) is a not‐for‐profit UK based organisation established in 1998, which assists NGOs in a variety of ways. We offer a lot of services from surveys/questionnaires through to training course development. One of our Consultants, Kevin Osmond, was Deputy Director of Curriculum evelopment at a large College in the UK (some 25,000 students) and since he left the College he undertakes the building on‐line interactive e‐learning multimedia courses for various sectors. ARIADNE Hess is a sole proprietorship. Miriam Hess conducts the business and cooperates with different partners: Foundations, companies, schools and organizations are included. Miriam was a teacher in public school and worked mainly with children with special needs and German as a second language. After having her master degree in social and educational science she has offered counseling also for adults. Here she has specialized in the field of learning skills, relaxation techniques and motivation. Mainly parents from primary school children attend those training sessions. Over the years ARIADNE could build up a network to different primary and secondary schools in the area and was able to coordinate as a silent partner COMENIUS projects in the field of migration and sustainability for interested school teams.

Apart from that Miriam teaches Yoga and encourages adults and children to find good health and relaxation through Yoga. ARIADNE Hess commits itself also in social projects which help the integration of children with migration background. Miriam has a wide experience in mentoring and is running a program for children from underpriviled families (e.g. children with unemployed parents or with migrant background) who are guided from senior citizens. Different offers which are aimed especially at senior citizens are another field. Here Miriam offers course programs and lectures which can support the intellectual and physical well-being in old age.

So far ARIADNE Hess was involved in different LLL programs:

  • A multilateral project, Grundtvig: “Improving learning capacities and mental health of elder people”.
  • A multilateral project, Leonardo da Vinci: “SAGE“ – improving citizenship for elder people“.
  • A multilateral project, Leonardo da Vinci: “CLARITY“ – The project is creating new training resources to support basic work-related training in migrants’ own languages.
  • A GRUNDTVIG Multilateral project “Create-Motivate-Learn” – to provide educators with creative and critical thinking strategies to use in a variety of adult learning contexts.
  • A multilateral project, Leonardo da Vinci: “Carein“ – this project Project aims at elaborating a Web 2.0 learning environment for the promotion and development of emotional intelligence competences among health and social assistance workers in order to contribute to a qualitative improvement of their daily activities.
